Besides packing a suitcase, a camera and maps, you will need to do a little grocery shopping when you stay with Georgia Mountain Rentals. All of our vacation rental properties have fully equipped kitchens, including a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, and oven. Most have a microwave, while some even have a toaster and blender.
We would never think of welcoming you as our guest without a coffee maker. While housekeeping will leave a few starter coffee filters for your convenience, you will still need to make a trip to the store for the coffee, along with anything else you plan on “fixing” during your stay!
Here is your guide to our favorite places to grocery shop…
18 Yonah Street – Helen, GA 30545
“Betty’s Country Store has fresh produce everyday, so even though you might be on vacation doesn’t mean you have to eat out of a box or a can. Fresh is always better! Ribeyes, Filets, Ground Beef, Chicken, Fish and Shrimp are a few of the quality meats and seafood offered at the butcher counter. Enjoy grilling in the mountains!” Betty’s has a wide selection of jams and jellies, pickles and relishes, too. One of my favorite stops is the candy corner where you can find favorites like jellybeans and old-fashioned soft peppermint sticks. Betty’s even has a variety of beer and wine. Click on Betty’s sign to see their Facebook page.
2454 Highway 17 – Sautee Nacoochee, GA 30571
Sheilah’s is our local go-to market of homemade food, gourmet goods, wines and craft beers. You will find locally supplied items such as eggs, milk, meats, honey, salsa and jellies. If you would rather not prepare dinner tonight, try one of her Homemade Take & Bake dishes. The deli case is filled with sides and salads, including pasta, broccoli and quinoa, hummus and soups. Her desserts are out of this world! Click on Sheilah’s logo to see her Facebook page.
6033 Hwy 17 North – Clarkesville, GA 30523
“Fritchey’s Gardens and Roadside Produce Stand offers many varieties of produce throughout the year.” I noticed the colorful collection of apples and winter squash at Fritchey’s just today when driving to work. From okra and corn to tomatoes and onions, you will find what you need to cook up fresh veggies for dinner. They have a small selection of local organic meats, too! Click on the Fritchey’s Gardens sign photo to see the Facebook page.
2512 Cleveland Hwy (Highway 115) – Murrayville, GA 30564
The Tomato House offers weekly specials, mostly from the butcher counter. They offer a $5 deli lunch that is absolutely delicious. Back in October, The Tomato House became an official Big Green Egg dealer and they are happy to answer questions and share their favorite BGE recipes. The Christmas shop is now open and offers a large selection of wreaths, ornaments, and decorations. Click on the Tomato House Farms logo to see their Facebook page.
5340 Cornelia Hwy (Highway 365) – Alto, GA 30510
“Your taste buds will tingle…!” That’s what the Echols family says about their fresh bread and jams, relishes and sauces, ice cream and cakes. To see more of their ever-expanding farm, click on the link above. They are “a local family business, providing locally grown food, in a local growing and learning environment.” The Jaemor Farms story is worthy of a novel! 55 Helen Hwy (Highway 75) – Cleveland, GA 30528
This is one of the largest Ingles Grocery Stores in the Northeast Georgia area. If you are craving it, you can probably find it here! The produce department offers just about any fruit or vegetable already washed and sliced, diced or skewered, ready to cook. Less prep, more relaxation! The meat and seafood department seems to go on forever and ever. Like I said, if you want something in particular, you will most likely find it at the Ingles Cleveland Store.
260 Donald E. Thurmond Parkway – Cleveland, GA 30528
We all know that if you need more than food items, there is always Walmart, the one-stop shopping megastore. There is nothing more I need to say about it. You really just needed the address. Happy shopping!
